Dia desses eu estava trabalhando em tarefas de pós-produção e checando o twitter de vez em quando e uma mensagem me chamou a atenção. Era sobre a definição de “Fine Art”. Estava divertido e eu entrei na discussão que continuou mais ou menos assim:

One of these days I was working on some post-production tasks and checking twitter occasionally and one msg called my attention. It was about the definition of “Fine Art”. Amusing as it was, I jumped in and the conversation went like this:

Bom, fabricação de móveis pode ser “Arte”, mas não “Fine Art”.  –  Well, furniture making is “Art” but not “Fine”.

Seria isso diferente de apenas “Arte”, o que “Fine” significa”?  –  Is that any different to just “Art” what does the “Fine” mean?

Fotografia não é “Arte”. É apenas uma fotografia bonita. Aponte. Clique. Imprima. Pronto. Fácil. 😉  –  Photography ain’t art. It’s just a blooming pic. Point, click, print. Done. Easy. 😉

Eu diria que “Fotografia Fine Art” é uma forma de arte que não serve a nenhum outro propósito além de ser “Arte”.  –  I’d say that “Photo Fine Art” is a form of art that serves no other purpose than being “Art”.

Poderia ser paisagem, retrato, abstrato, qualquer coisa, mas seria uma interpretação artística de …  –  It could be landscape, portrait, abstract, whatever, but it is an artistic interpretation of …

“Trabalho Próprio” ou “Projeto Pessoal” cobre isso para mim.  –  “Self motivated work” or “personal projects” covers it for me.

Isso excluiria muito do trabalho renascentista.  –  That would exclude much renaissance art.

Sim, mas você não acha que a arte renascentista não era, naquela época, “Arte Decorativa”?  –  Yes, but don´t you think that renaissance was, at that time, “Decorative Art”?

Então, a menos que seja pago por um trabalho encomendado, seria “Fine Art”?  –  So unless it’s paid for commissioned work, it’s fine art?

Isso, e se for bom o suficiente, eu diria. Caso contrário não seria “Fine”. 😉  –  That, and if it’s good enough, I’d say. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be “Fine”. 😉

Pode ser pago por isso…  –  It can be paid for…

Depois de pronto sim, quando vendido, certo?  –  Afterwards yes, when sold, right?

Certamente soa bem como uma definição de artista de Fine Art e/ou Vanguarda. 😉  –  It sure sounds good as a Fine Art/Vanguard definition of an artist. 😉

“Fine Art” literalmente significa que é “sem propósito”. 😉  –  “Fine Art” literally means it’s useless. 😉

Eu gosto disso: “Fulano de Tal: Artista Sem Propósito”  –  I like it: “John Doe: Useless Artist”

Claro que a maior parte dos comentários foi feita de uma maneira cômica, mas existe um fundo de verdade aí mesmo assim. E você, o que você pensa que seria uma boa definição para “Fine Art”?
